Anyone see this flick? I got it from sins a few days ago and just got around to watching it after Monday Night Football. I was REALLY impressed by this movie. Anyone want a copy just AIM or ICQ me and I'll put up my FTP. Great quality DVD rip too.

:EDIT: Oh, and that's where my sig came from. Funniest scene I've seen in a long time!

Oh Boondock is a great fucking movie. I think I've seen it at least 30-40 times (completely serious here). I noted the sig Z-man. I think the line may be "you fucking bitch" rather than "funky bitch" but that's open to speculation. When the cat is on the wall I think "Is it dead!?!?" is one of my favorite lines from any movie. The editing if fucking awesome, reminds me in some ways of lockstock, but different. Willem Dafoe is his typical wierdness, but his character is pretty awesome nonetheless. I'm changing my sig to be with you Z.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention (and am surprised no one else has) that Ron Jeremy is in the movie as a mob right-hand man. I also believe the dancer that gets her boobs cupped "I was gonna tip her!" is a porn star as well.

Fook! Ass!

The scene where fuckass is cursing in front of the nuns is totally awesome.

I too loved that movie... it reminded me of lock, stock & 2 smoking barrels a lot... and i loved that movie too.
Ron Jeremy was awsome in that movie, and the casting was mad in general... i liked the old man with tourvettes syndrome (fuck SHIT! ASS)

But for some reason Willem Dafoe seems to be the runner up for the "If I woke up and found this person in the room holding anything*, I would die of a massive heart attack" award.

Cristopher Walker gets it hands down though.

I'm trying to decipher what it means for him to be standing there, in your place, holding something.

is it supposed to be a threatening object, or lack thereof? what are the other options? I mean, what if he was holding his johnson?

Saw Suicide Kings for the first time today. Good film with a lot of great one liners. The character were flat but what the hell it was really just a mystery/crime film so you don't expect the characters to develop. (It's not llike it's Graham Greene or sumthin' :P ).

Makes me with Walken would play something other than a mobster, or creepy guy, or a nice guy who just comes off as a creepy guy, or a creepy guy trying to come off as a nice guy but only falls face foward....guess I am supposed to blow my brains out or something....

Saw it for the first time last night. Very good film. It wasn't what I thought it would be about though. Also I wished they would have given a little more back story about the family, like the old man. I am guessing he was the father but I wasn't sure. Intresting story, very much like Unbreakable, and it ended way too soon.

I showed it to a couple of friends the other day. One liked it so much that he ended up watching it 5 times in a row afterward.

The dialouge sounded like it was written by a 15 year old. Alot of the action sequences are done in flash back. The scenes are disjointed with no continuous flow, it's like here they are in a bar fighting, here they are in a room shooting, why? Because they kill bad guys for god? Dafoe's character is a waste on such a talented actor. The religous overtones have been done to death. And I won't even get into the whole homoerotic subplot.

Corsair9
12-10-2003, 09:48 AM
I would like to insult your intelligence, because it is empirically impossible to not enjoy this movie, but your comment reeks of intelligent thought, so i cant.

i think the flow was continuous, just not in linear-time fashion. I don't think that made the flow of the story choppy though.

and all of your other opinions i simply disagree with.
with regards to jakubs matrix reference, THATS a movie where religious overtones seem over the top.
they fit well with this one.
thats like criticizing a movie based on the mlb and criticizing it for too many baseball overtones.
wait, dont you mean undertones, anyhow?

im sorry you didnt like this movie. but it was excellent.

question--did u like "panic room?"

Tell me why Panic Room was an invalid opinion rendering movie? I'm sure we are going to disagree but, I would like to know what it is your looking for in a movie that make your critique steadfast and mine weak at the knees.

Corsair9

panic room was so horrendously bad on every level that i refuse to waste time commenting on it.

ill give you that jodie foster and forrest whitaker played their roles well as they always do.

but this movie was unneccessary. it took 2 hours to drag out a piece of feces that could have been summed up in 15 minutes.

the story was stupid, the plot was ridiculous, most of the characters were poorly written.

it was neither interesting nor entertaining.

it was the most boring movie i have ever seen, and to spice it up they tried to break the monotony with the most excessive out-of-place violence i have ever seen in a movie.

i wish i could get my two hours back and never have had to watch that drivel.

HeadWound

I don't agree but, I'll give you this because I've heard this arguement before. It's ok though I like talking movies.
So give me some examples of good movies in your opinion. Try to stay away from obvious chioces, I'd like to hear something specific to you.
By the way your not the first person to say this to me so it's not surprising. I took some shit off bling for saying I thought Brody getting an oscar for the Pianist was a joke. We may need to move this discussion to the movie thread.

Corsair9

Fine, I'll just say the director of Saints wants to be Tarintino, but lacks his originality, what you are left with is a movie that could have been good but ends up a lite version rip off of other people's work.

When did Tarintino stop being a complete biter? Nothing he has ever done is original, unless you consider blatanlty ripping off several other film makers styles and using them like his own to be original.

Being a fan of other movies and pop culture in general is part of T's style. It's the way he uses this element of his movies that has set him apart from other directors. T doesn't get caught up in the act of paying homage the movies he loves. It doesn't take over his movies.
Saints is so caught up in trying to be cool and like some other movies it steps all over it's own voice. It shows moments of originality and then pulls back and settles into scenes and dialouge so painfully obvious it strips the movie of any real character.
This movie left me asking the question "where are you taking me?"

Saints is a stylistic attempt at an action movie with hints of a deeper meaning that it never quite gets to the meat of. Overall it's just lacking.

But hey, what do I know? I'm just a fan.
