It seems that the RIAA wants a few new rights. (http://wired.com/news/conflict/0,2100,47552,00.html) Those seem to include invasion of privacy.

Well OK it is not quite invasion of privacy but very very close.

haahah! i wonder if you're allowed to hack them if they hack you. They'd have a fucking hard time hacking every single person anyway. I don't see how it relates tho, cuz most ppl use P2P file sharing, so they can't really hack a file server or anything

I wonder how the hell they think they're gonna prove that you don't actually own the CD before they start deleting songs. I don't know about most of you, but I own a lot of CD's and have ripped a good many songs from my collection LEGALLY.
Also, like many others, I have damaged CD's and have downloaded songs that don't want to play anymore on them LEGALLY. Just because the song on the CD won't play, doesn't mean I don't own that song anymore does it?

all im saying is that the fact that they tried to sneak it in below the radar is pretty fucking shady . In response to what Z Man said, in the RIAA's eyes, if the CD is damaged too fucking bad, buy another one . there point is that all music downloaded from the Napsters of the world is stolen material .

But just because I steal something from someone deos not mean that they have the legal right to break into my house trash my place and destroy what I stole from them. Not that I am the type who steals. :D
I am just worried about B. Gates "recorded life" future. If that happens a new cast system will emerge and freedom will become impossible, not that it was every really possible to begin with.
