They're launching a new service with music not in MP3 format. They want people to pay for lower quality music, less selection, and a format that's not ubiquitous across many platforms (including portables and car players).

hmmm.. I don't know why the people running Napster are still bothering with it. They're not going to make any real money with the half a billion new file sharing programs on the internet. Maybe they're being threatened further by the evil music industry boogyman.
