What songs do you like that are off the beaten path a bit from the standard stuff out today. Two come to mind for me:
Alicia Keys - Fallin'
This has a nice piano accompanient and is just very mellow.
Cibo Matto - Spoon
I've got to give hamatoyoshi credit for pointing this out to me. This is just so out there. It's funk & JPop & who knows what else mixed in.

I should crank out an mp3s of the moment article...
I'll get to this one later as I've made quite a few new acquisitions and don't have time to go throug them all.

I personally like the rendition of Johnny Cash's "Cocaine Blues" by a band called Mrs. Children. They are touring Columbus, Ohio, and one of their features is this insane guy with really long hair who sits on stage during the show consuming large quantities of gasoline. Also, this insane, gasoline-drinking guy will occasionally wield a cricket bat, and break something or chase some of the fans around.
I don't think they have an MP3 of the song yet, but it may one day be available on their site at mp3.com/MrsChildren
