I just listened to Weezer - "Island in the Sun" for the first time today and it's great.
Recently I've picked up:
Nickelback - "How You Remind Me"
Better than Ezra - "Extra Ordinary"
Ian Van Dahl - "Castles in the Sky"
Isle of Q - "Bag of Tricks"

Actually, I sometimes listen to Vivaldi or Bach while writing or doing serious work. I've lost the ability to concentrate with rock or hip hop playing after I graduated.
I also listen to some Vanessa Mae. Electric violin is wicked cool.
I actually picked up a liking for Rhapsody in Blue from the stupid United Airlines commercial :)

Hey I want to buy a good techno cd, one with different kinds of techno (trance is my favorite), but I don't know of any good cd's off hand. I just want a good cd I can listen to while working out or in my car or partying or whatever. Any suggestions on an artist/compilation???

If you like electric violin, have you checked out Jean-Luc Ponty? Sure you have, but if not, he's worth a look.
Currently? Well, I've been listening to Me First and the Gimme Gimme's a lot since I saw that commercial on FOX for that new show Undeclared.

Sweet! I've always wanted to go to their concert, but I missed the last time they came to town.

There are so few people on here who would appreciate Me First...
I HAD been listening to Yo La Tengo, Leonard Cohen, some bends era radiohead and grandaddy. However recent events have made me get out the big guns.
Johnny Cash: Cocaine Blues. "I can't forget the day I shot that bad bitch down." Say no more.
Anti-Flag: Indie Sucks, Hardline Sucks, Emo Sucks, You Suck. You DO suck.
Motorhead: Ace of Spades. Good angry music.
Black Flag: Drinking and Driving. Sounds like a damn good idea to me.
Tool: Hooker with a Penis. Before tool gave in to their inner Rush, they did some wonderful anger management music.
The Who: Won't get fooled again.
The Ramones: I wanna be sedated, Beat on the Brat.
Also, I've started back into my Nietszche, simply for the Misogyny.

I'll agree with MeK, I love the Deftones. POD were good. I remember seeing them before they were popular at a local punk club. We just hung out with them after the show. It was really cool. I think that was just before the Brown Album (Live) came out. I think they have really changed. They were always into good production but a lot of their new stuff is just too polished for my taste. At least they have a message though and are willing to bend over backwards to communicate to their fans.

On the way to and from school with my sister (i cant drive yet) I listen to the following: Weezer, Blink182, Destiny's Child, Eminem and more. My sister has a huge mix of different types of music (xcept country) and I guess I sort of like it all.
At home I listen to my own music which is basically hiphop that is not underground yet not mainstream...Wutang Clan, Gangstarr, Coo Coo Cal, Benefit, others you may or may not have heard/heard of.
On a semi-related note I saw the diary of Brit Spears on MTV this weekend and she is not looking as hot, she needs to drop the long hair, and take off her shirt.

I'm listening to Lifehouse right now, thinking about Jason, wishing he wasn't 5,000 miles away right now. I can't get over this gut feeling that he's the one. We broke up 2 years ago and we are closer now than we ever were, even though he's so far away. I'm just afraid that in 3 years when he comes home it will be too late, and I'll have settled for someone else. Erg.

Was just listening to Eels Novacaine for the Soul. I had forgotten just how disturbing that song was. That quiet motown drum and base kick with the toy piano in the opening along with the pauses. Not to mention the lyrics.

Venga Boy's "Boom Boom"
I have no idea why... This song is stupid.
"Boom boom boom boom
I want you in my room.
Boom boom boom boom
I wanna tell the room,
That we spent the night together,
Together in my room."

For such an occassion, I recommend these tunes:
Heather Nova - Heart and Shoulder
Angela Ammons - Always Getting Over You
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes
Live - Lightning Crashes
U2 - One
U2 - All I Want Is You
Dave Matthew's Band - The Space Between
All of them are relatively new songs. It would take me much longer to go back and search through more of the 60's, 70's and 80's for applicable songs. Good luck, babe.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

If you'd like to get into a nice blue funk, look around and see if you can find a copy of Sass Jordan's "You Don't Have To". Great tune. Every time my band does that song I get goosebumps. Hmmm... Think I'll hit LimeWire or KaZaA and find me a copy.
EDIT: Oops, I accidentally called her Sass Johnson instead of Jordan

Keith Hudson, Horace Andy, I Roy, King Jammy, Jacob Miller, Scientist etc. etc. etc.
Anybody else a Reggae/Dub fan out there?
All Orbital and Fluke. I could listen to them for hours on end.
