Although Roni Size is perhaps my premier musical inspiration, his works with Reprazent recently have sucked. As for MJ Cole, he's not even worth speaking of.
Rather than listening to whatever drum and bass crap this guy may have on his website, I suggest you pick up Roni Size and Reprazent's "New Forms" CD, which is in my top five CDs.

Trance sucks, especially the type played in Ibiza.

Go on Napster and grab "Final Fantasy X - Paul Oakenfold Trance Mix". I don't really like trance, but this is pretty good.

I'll download it and listen to it, and I'll tell you what I think about it.
In any case, trance sucks. Be it van Helden, van Dyk, BT, Sasha and Digweed, Oakenfold, Astral Projection, Mauro Picotto, X-Dream, et cetera. I've listened to hours of trance and found no redeeming quality. I especially hate people who like BT's "Godspeed". I can't even figure out how it would be good if one were hopped up on drugs.

It was awful, and it hurt me. This is the kind of irrational exhuberance that trashed the New Economy and sent the Canadian Dollar plunging, thus sending the Nordiques to Colorado and making all the Canadian hockey teams suck, `cause they can't afford to buy decent players. I feel for my Canadian brethren, having to derive all their inspiration from Molson's Joe.

Damn right. There is NO redeeming quality in any on the trance "music" you listed above. We must look to this music with guarded optomism. It must be firmly grounded in the sound business principles of the pre-dotcom economy, otherwise we risk overvaluing musicians who fail to turn a profit for several years in an attempt to gain a larger market share. Final Fantasy X may be directly responsible for the tumble in the economy, and I don't know that any drop in the interest rates could return the Nordiques to their proper home.

I would agree, this is the kind of think which reduces consumer confidence and reduces consumer spending. This crap is so bad that the retailers will have to keep it in their inventories, thus increasing excess storage costs and decreasing profits. A drop in the interest rate could definitely help increase spending in the non-trance area, but I feel the irrational nature of the market could lead once again to trance spending and rampant inflation. In any case, I don't foresee the Avs going back to Quebec.

Yeah, as it becomes more and more clear that trance music is not viable as a money making venture, I think you will see according trends in other such shitty music as house and polka. These markets will decline faster than the real estate market, however one can alread see a slowing in the curve of real estate. To lower interest rates would simply drive inflation up and would not kick start the consumer spending on items such as houses, cars, or trance music.

its cool how armand van helden was the speed garage god and innovator. but yet you class him under trance. you must be highly educated http://www.rushcomics.com/ubb/frown.gif
and if you see no amazing qualitys in goa, then maybe you arn't really lisenting hard enough.
hamatoyoshi: goa isnt the stuff you'll hear in ibiza. except maybe sellout's like AP.
goa/psytrance is fine where it is now. underground

Ah, but the beauty of trance music is that since people are usually on various sorts of happy pills listening to it, they don't notice that the same songs loop for 30 minutes. You don't have to do much to fill up an album increasing margins for the record industry.

You must not be familiar with the whole body of van Helden's work then. In fact, his trance is quite prominent. He does drum and bass as well, but it's horrible.
Some of van Helden's many trance remixes:
V.S. - Oohhh Baby
Circle Children - Zulu
Deee-Lite - DMT
In any case, supposing we agree to exclude van Helden as a prominent artist of trance, that doesn't make all of the rest of trance any better. It's still bad.
As for goa and Ibiza, when were you last in Ibiza?
Check out: http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night/trance_i.htm
It's kind of dated, but it'll tell you about goa and Ibiza.

of course your going to have psytrance parties in ibiza. why would it be the lone one out from the rest of the world? but the majority of psytrance events in ibiza are going to be in clubs with AP, and IM playing 'live' sets (on a side note. i saw astral play a 'live' set last year. i talked to the promotor several weeks later, he told me they demanded all the equipement for the 'live' set. which is understandable. but the set consisted of avi pressing play on the DAT. )
so yes. you're more likey to see a gino then a hippy in ibiza. http://www.rushcomics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
hamatoyoshi. you don't like trance. fine.
to one his own.
ArchdukeFerdinand: again. your going to have the mainstream artists and your going to have the 'underground' ( i hate using that word, casue nothing is truly underground in reality) artists. i could name you psytrance/goa artists that you have never heard of and they would rock your mind.

There aren't any trance artists who are going to blow my mind because I don't like trance. You're right, nothing is really underground these days, my point simply is that when you've got kids who don't look too hard for new music and aren't particularly knowledgeable about music liking something, its not exactly a little known genre. When you've got kids who love dave matthews band listening to trance, its not really something you could call underground. I'm not arguing about specific artists, because while they vary from one to another, they must have specific similarities to each other in order to be classified as trance.
