I'm gonna burn a cd of the all time greatest punk rock songs...I'll have the obvious on there: Green Day, Clash, Deftones, Blink 182, Offspring, but I need some more good band/song nominations. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dude, this is not punk, this is son-of-punk!
You need to check out the OG punk stuff, like Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, and even early Ramones.

Try Half Man Half Biscuit. Utterly old school british punk.
All the best,

Anything from X's Los Angeles. In particular "Johnny Hit and Run Paulene." Although her newer work has a very not so punk sound P J Harvey's Rid of Me include a few tracks that greatly hereald a "punk" sound. Just delve into it. There is a lot of great music out there. So don't listen to anyone find what you like.

I love punk music so..
Any CD of the best would have to include Ramones,Sex Pistols,GG Allen, maybe a few selected tracks of Blondie and New York Dolls.
There's nothing wrong with Green Day or Blink182 really, just remember that they hold a very specific place in the punk spectrum. If you're wanting some newer bands, go hunt down some OLD(I mean OLD) GooGooDolls or Soul Asylum, bith have punk roots.

Don't forget Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground. It was the essence of punk there. Raw emotion over a minimalistic sound.

Blink182 is bottled up beach punk. Bah.
Bad Religion - Infected kicks ass. Bad Religion could take all the Blink182 boys and kick their ass and then strip them naked and force them to run around town. Oh wait, they did that already in a video...

Pennywise is awesome. I'm thinking that no one here actually likes PUNK though, because I haven't seen (I didn't look carefully tho) any black flag. Minor Threat, bad religion, black flag, sex pistols, clash, crass, propaghandi, anti-flag, dead kennedys, THE MISFITS, the ramones. Any punk mix that is without either "last caress" or "we are 138" is a shit mix.

Just because I like these bands, I will spit them out. Don't fight with me on whether they are punk rock or not. I like them, damnit.
Pennywise, The Vandals, Fenix TX, Less Than Jake, Ataris, Jimmy Eat World, The Misfits, Kittie, Operation Ivy, Reel Big Fish, MxPx, Save Ferris, NoFx, Buck-O-Nine, Unwritten Law, DHC, The Descendents, Lagwagon, Agent 51, Bad Religion, Ramones

And you ignore Lou Reed? Come on the man is considered the godfather of both punk and glam. Not too many people can be blamed for that.

Yeah, I actually won't mention lou reed here simply because while he had an incredibly large influence on those movements, it would sort of be like considering robert johnson rock and roll.
